Fergie pays tribute to Anfield legend 10/5/2000

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson today sent a glowing tribute to loyal Liverpool servant Ronnie Moran.

Ronnie is looking forward to his well deserved testimonial match against Celtic next Tuesday after 50 years service at Anfield, and United manager Ferguson has insisted he deserves his big night more than anyone.

Says Ferguson: 'I cannot think of anyone in the game more deserving of a testimonial than Ronnie Moran. A true professional, a loyal servant to Liverpool FC and a nice guy.

'As long as I have known him he has always been 110 per cent Liverpool. Anything asked of him in forwarding the club's cause would be done without further enquiry. There is no question Ronnie Moran is one of Liverpool's all time greats.

'I wish that I'd had £1 for every argument I've had with Ronnie, but after the game he was also the first to offer you a drink.'

Tickets for Ronnie Moran's testimonial game are still on sale from the Anfield ticket office, priced at £15 adults and £7 children.
